This is Alma Pedde's Poetry Page. Sorry, the poems are only in German. Alma started writing poetry when she was in her sixties, and they are all spiritual/religious in nature. Alma's fervid faith and confidence in God, and His place in our lives is evident even when she writes about a table, a telephone, or frost on a window. She has written over 150 poems, and many of them will be made available here.

Alma Schmigelski was born in Kempa Kikolska, Poland, of German parents on July 17, 1914. She married Julius Pedde on July 4, 1937. When Julius passed away in December of 1998, they had been married for 61 years. Through good times (a few) and bad (quite a few), her faith was constant, and her wonder at the natural world around her was manifest.

Alma lived in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. She passed away on July 28, 2002, eleven days after her 88th birthday. At the end she was incapacitated by arthritis, and couldn't get around without a walker or wheelchair. She lived a varied and often troubled life but faced every obstacle with good cheer and resolute faith. A brief history of her life can be found here.
